Today has me thinking about how much I adore my work. This morning has been such a treat! Eliza, my four-year-old, and I took a package to Lindsay this morning. Lindsay is my client with newborn triplets. It was a treat to hold and rock a baby while for a few minutes while Lindsay oohed and awed over her birth announcements. When we left, Eliza said, “Mommy, she sure has a lot of babies.” So true- three newborns is an undertaking for any family!

Next, Eliza and I went to the doctor for her four year appointment. We adore our doctor and LUCKILY we do not see her very often. Eliza passed her hearing and vision test and was a brave girl for her shots! I was going to take Eliza to school after the doctor but with only two hours left of school, I decided she should hang out with me instead. So, she and I are sitting here in the studio. She is working on coloring a lovely picture and I am working on the computer. Her work looks like a lot more fun then mine. :)

In an hour, I am due at a client’s home for a newborn session. This is the third baby of theirs I have had the delight of photographing as a newborn. However, this baby is very special because she is their first girl. I can’t wait to meet her!

Finally, I thought this might be of interest to some of you. It is a pull back shot from a session I had last week. I will be posting some images from her session later today but I thought this might be a good teaser. During ALL newborn sessions, it looks like a bomb has exploded as we change diapers, give bottles, clean up messes, and try to keep the baby happy at all costs. This image was taken in the studio. It is always wonderful to have sessions here as it is such a cozy environment and we have endless amounts of props to pull from.

Hope you all have a great day!

letter canvas' by Elizabeth Smith of Libbie Wicket
February is the perfect time to introduce the latest product to grace the studio. These series of canvas’ are called the “love letters collection”. The letters at the top can spell your child’s name, a word that describes your child, or even your child’s initials or monogram. The canvas’ can be ordered in sets of three or more and the color can be customized to match the clothing in the images or to coordinate with the colors in your child’s bedroom.

These canvas’ are two inches thick so they really make a bold statement up on the wall.

I have these canvas’ propped against a wall in the studio. I was so excited when they arrived I took these pictures before I even hung them. So fun!

Where do you keep all the little momentous items you collect from each child? The newborn bracelet from the hospital, the first lock of hair, images from key moments in your child’s life, love letters from you to them and, one day, from them to you. This precious box not only serves the practical purpose of a place to gather all those items but it looks fabulous doing so. Once filled, opening this memory box will immediately transport you back in time to the tears, smiles and laughter of your child’s early years.

I love that you can add the child’s name and age on the side of the box. This is the horizontal keepsake box created with newborn images from a recent session.

Here is the vertical keepsake box featuring my very own child, Eliza.

I love how tall this box is- giving you plenty of room to fill it up!

This gives you a better idea of size. I placed my band on the top for size comparison.

These are now in the studio so you can see them the next time you are here. They are available for order immediately.

Well, it’s down to the final few newborn sessions on my books for the remainder of 2009. I am winding down and looking forward to these next few weeks with my family. We’ve got a vacation planned, a couple more holiday parties, and some good old-fashioned RELAXATION in store! We’re finishing up the last of the orders and getting those off to their rightful owners, and then closing up shop! …Until 2010 of course.

2010? Can you believe it? Well, it’s nearly here and I’m welcoming her with open arms. ☺ So, after tomorrow, I will be officially UNPLUGGED and will return emails, phone calls, texts, or hollers on and after January 5, 2010. If you have an inquiry of any sort, please email me at your most convenient time and expect to hear from me the second week in January.

Look out for my last few blog postings this year…I’ve got a couple of very special clients and newborns coming up and I’m looking forward to sharing their first few days with you. Also, I’ll share some of our family vacation images with you…sure to be a little crazy and cute all at the same time.

My very best to all of you this season! Enjoy!

Lots of love,
Elizabeth

For the second year in a row I am participating in an amazing movement to GIVE (“a verb used to indicate that somebody [me] presents or delivers something [a professional photography session and print credit of $500] to another person”).

GIVING is a notion close to my heart and I NEED YOUR HELP! Tell me about somebody…ANYBODY whom you feel is deserving of a professional photography session they cannot afford themselves. You and I know this has been a tough year for too many of our friends and loved ones. Give me their story… give me the reason you feel a professional photography session would brighten their day. Do you remember the best part? …If your nominee is chosen, you will have a $200 print credit waiting for you after your next session.

A few guidelines:

~The person you nominate must reside in the Atlanta area or have the means to travel to Atlanta for our session.

~Please do not nominate yourself and whomever you choose to nominate must be incapable of purchasing my services.

~Entries must be received by December 20th and I will announce the winner December 31, 2009.

~Leave a comment on my blog letting me know you have entered and email me the full story. Elizabeth@libbiewicket.com

~Both sessions must be completed by July 15, 2010.

Many photographers across the nation partake in this lovely event. Please help me to GIVE this gift to a deserving family. Truly, it makes me happy to know I can offer this service.

Think….Write….Send….I’ll announce the winner December 31st!

Thank you for your help.

Much Love and Holiday Cheer.

-Elizabeth

What I am about to tell you is unheard of for me, for this time of year! I am about to get on a plane and take a…

VACATION

Yes folks, you heard that right. It is my insane time of year but I am choosing to take a break right in the middle so I can hopefully, happily make it through the rest of the season. I am leaving Atlanta 90% caught up on all work so I have a fairly clean conscience. :)
I will be back in the studio Monday following my morning session and I will get to all phone calls and e-mails at that time.
Have a wonderful week/weekend and I will check in when I return.
