Women’s History Month! Make sure to keep an eye out for some fun facts this month as the ladies of Libbie Wicket celebrate “girl power”.
FUN FACT: National Women’s History Month dates back to March 8, 1857, when women from New York City factories staged a protest over working conditions. International Women’s Day was first observed in 1909, but it wasn’t until 1981 that Congress established National Women’s History Week to be commemorated the second week of March. In 1987, Congress expanded the week to a month. Every year since, Congress has passed a resolution for Women’s History Month, and the President has issued a proclamation.

Ok, never again will I try to save a few bucks by opting to “do it yourself” construct a piece of furniture. I realize that a bean bag really isn’t furniture (although I may have argued this point in college) but it was probably MORE annoying than a table or chair would have been to assemble. Actually, annoying doesn’t even begin to describe the situation. Disaster. Disaster would be a better descriptive. Here’s what happened…
I ordered a large leather bean bag for use in the studio. Great prop for little ones! It was sent “un-filled” along with 4 gigantic bags of styrofoam beans to be placed inside. When we began the arduous task of delicately pouring the beans into the bag through the tiny, 8 inch velcro opening we realized that this was NOT going to be easy. You see, styrofoam is seriously static-y, especially in the dead of winter. So when we went to “pour” beans into the bag, they instead stuck all over the OUTSIDE of the bag…and us. And the floor. And the walls. This-is-not-a-joke!

“Hey, I have an idea!” I said. “Why don’t we get my kids out here to help us?”…..famous last words….
So as things went from bad to worse, we finally broke down- in fits of laughter. Might as well take advantage of this wonderful photo opp!

Finally, the clean up. 3 grown women, 3 kids, 1 shop vac and oh, I don’t know, maybe an hour later? SUCCESS!
Lesson learned= sometimes “do it yourself” isn’t always best. And styrofoam is evil. Happy Wednesday!
Better late than never! This is the latest “style guide” post that we wanted to share. This month we are still in some muted brown colors for winter but with February being the month of love and Valentines we had to throw in a little pink. As the weather warms the colors and fashions will reflect the change and we love seeing what our stylish families come up with for their sessions! Hope this has inspired you today. Happy Monday.

Interested in the looks of this delicious, sugar rimmed, pomegranate margarita and table-side guacamole-making station? Well, look no further than Rosa Mexicano in Atlantic Station!

This place has a nice atmosphere, fresh food (and guac!), yummy drinks (see pomegranate marg above), and is easy to get to. It’s a fun way to spend an afternoon lunching and sipping, or even a casual date night with your spouse. Enjoy!
