Happy birthday to sweet Vic who just turned one!

I met his big sister when I photographed her when she was just one! She was a very sweet little girl then and now she is a loving, wonderful big sister.

However, who do you think Vic adores the most? Of course, his sweet mommy!!!!!

I was lucky to get to see many sides of Vic during this session. Luckily we used our first ten minutes together to our advantage because after that Vic was ready to do anything else but STOP.

So, I did what any good photographer in the same situation would do. We hung him from his toes… (in my best pirate voice) until he laughed so hard he cried.

It was such a fun morning hanging out with these two angels! Sessions like this make me a happy girl!

one-year-old

As I posted about earlier in the week, the part I adore most about my work is getting to know families and watching them grow. When I first met this couple four years ago, they had just had their first child. An outgoing, even-tempered sweet little guy. At his one-year-session, mom told me she was expecting baby number two. It was thrilling to spend the next year photographing the two boys. Sweet baby number two was a little bit on the shy side and at a couple of sessions he really made all of us work hard to keep him happy. However, he has now bloomed into such a sweet guy and we had an awesome session back in November.

So, I was thrilled to death when I found out I would be a part of welcoming baby number three to the growing family. This is not just any baby… it is a girl! Mom and Dad are over the moon with excitement over her arrival!

Mom had plenty of pink all around and this sweet little bow to adorn Decker’s little head.

Mom and I laughed because both of the boys were born with a head full of hair. So, in preparation, Mom bought several sweet bows. Well, little Decker came out with only a tiny bit of hair. So much for proper planning…

Do you think Daddy is just a little in love? I have watched him with three newborns and I can tell this is a little something different. Seems Miss Decker has already stolen his heart!

I love the pink as much as Mom does. It is fun to have a girl! Welcome to the world sweet Decker!

How did our parents ever know what to do with us when there was down time to fill? I suppose they read about events in the local paper and they used the yellow pages. Today it is so easy to quickly find out about upcoming events and fun happenings around Atlanta. I have several blogs I follow with good information on events around town. However, for those local to the Smyrna/Vinings area- this one is especially for you!

Are you tired of scouring the web and newspapers for fun things to do with your kids? Then sign up for the Smyrna Vinings Macaroni Kid weekly e-newsletter by clicking here:  Smyrna/Vinings Macaroni Kids

Each Thursday you will receive a newsletter filled with all of the great things to do with your family in Smyrna/Vinings and beyond. You can view the site online, but subscribe in order to be eligible for great giveaways, such as tickets to Mulan at the Alliance theatre.  We also have a facebook fan page – become a fan and get updated information throughout the week on events and activities !

Big brother James is happy with her age because now his sister is becoming so much fun! Eliza has all kinds of silly expressions. Such as this…

Eliza loves to coo and “talk” to James. She is interacting with him and that makes James a happy boy!

Eliza is clearly the apple of her Daddy’s eye. I see this so often… where the Dad’s I photograph quickly fall in love with their little princess. It would be impossible not to love Miss Eliza though….

Mommy is already finding a playmate and wonderful companionship in Eliza. I know how fun it is for me to take “my Eliza” to the store or for her to cook with me in the kitchen. I can tell that Eliza and her mommy are going to have that same kind of relationship.

How much fun it is to watch a family grow! This little girl is welcomed by not only mom and dad but also big sister Mackenzie.

Mom was concerned she might look overly tired. Hmm- I think not. I adore this portrait!

When Hayley and mom arrived, Hayley was fussy and squirmy. It took us about an hour but we got her cozy and happy and then I got this:

Mom brought this blanket for us to use and I adored it. I think I might have to go grab one for the studio stash!

We had such a great time and sweet little Hayley was a very good model for us. It looks like we wore her out with her great big yawn!

hello little newborn hayley

Today has me thinking about how much I adore my work. This morning has been such a treat! Eliza, my four-year-old, and I took a package to Lindsay this morning. Lindsay is my client with newborn triplets. It was a treat to hold and rock a baby while for a few minutes while Lindsay oohed and awed over her birth announcements. When we left, Eliza said, “Mommy, she sure has a lot of babies.” So true- three newborns is an undertaking for any family!

Next, Eliza and I went to the doctor for her four year appointment. We adore our doctor and LUCKILY we do not see her very often. Eliza passed her hearing and vision test and was a brave girl for her shots! I was going to take Eliza to school after the doctor but with only two hours left of school, I decided she should hang out with me instead. So, she and I are sitting here in the studio. She is working on coloring a lovely picture and I am working on the computer. Her work looks like a lot more fun then mine. :)

In an hour, I am due at a client’s home for a newborn session. This is the third baby of theirs I have had the delight of photographing as a newborn. However, this baby is very special because she is their first girl. I can’t wait to meet her!

Finally, I thought this might be of interest to some of you. It is a pull back shot from a session I had last week. I will be posting some images from her session later today but I thought this might be a good teaser. During ALL newborn sessions, it looks like a bomb has exploded as we change diapers, give bottles, clean up messes, and try to keep the baby happy at all costs. This image was taken in the studio. It is always wonderful to have sessions here as it is such a cozy environment and we have endless amounts of props to pull from.

Hope you all have a great day!
