A very happy anniversary to these folks I adore! For the past three years we have done their summer session either on their anniversary or very close to their anniversary. This session was no exception as we were able to shoot on the exact date. Maybe eight years ago they looked like this:

but now they look much more like this:

Their momma is so super hip! She is in the process of growing her hair out for Locks of Love. The boys think it’s so much fun to see their mom with this long hair!

These boys are silly, fun and very very “all boy”! This one makes me smile each time I see it!

Finally, here is sweet dad! His boys clearly adore him and he is always fun to have at a session. :) Here he was showing the boys the fish in the stream. I swear that Dad was as excited to see the fish as the boys were!

It is always a treat to see certain families again year after year. This family is especially dear to me and I can’t wait for them to see their whole gallery!

happy anniversary!

I am always delighted and pleased when I have clients who refer me to their friends and family members. I was especially honored tonight to open up Facebook and see this post from one of my sweet clients. There is no better way to find someone in the service field then by personal recommendation. Thank you so much Amber and I hope to see you and your precious family again very soon!

I promised to share a peek into the people who were integral in the creation of Libbie Wicket and her new studio home. First, I’d like to introduce Ashley Jankowski of Luxecetera who developed the “image” that is Libbie Wicket.

How did you and Elizabeth meet?

Initially, I met Elizabeth like I meet most clients… via the world wide web. Though, since she only lives a hop-skip away… we actually met for (a long) lunch and chatted like old friends.

What intrigued you about the idea of Libbie Wicket?

The idea began with two stories, really, Alice in Wonderland and Nanny McPhee, both rooted in British charm and filled with authentic childhood games and wonderous tales. The idea of Libbie was truly a culmination of ideas from the whole team here at Luxecetera. It truly would not have been possible without our creative writer, Tyrie, and our illustrator, Walter. It’s funny that the boys played such a crucial role in Libbie’s creation, eh?

Share something about Libbie that other people might not know?

She thinks tea parties are overrated. And her favorite color is periwinkle, but only because it rhymes with tinkle – hehe.

What was the hardest part about bringing Libbie to life? the easiest?

The hardest part was… ummm… hmmm… err… The easiest part was… well… the fewest revisions on the history of our design careers!! We had a blast working with Elizabeth and bringing Libbie to life!

Tell us about Luxecetera!

Luxecetera is the culmination of three distinct design perspectives, brought together under the unifying philosophy that good design begins in the details. The designing minds behind the firm, Eva Talley, Ashley Jankowski and Lisa Reichman, focus their creations towards the design needs of each client, finding inspiration and building sound design on that foundation.

Bringing Libbie Wicket to life

I have to tell you that this little guy was 100% angel the day he was photographed. He slept like we wanted him to and he let us take him outside, back inside, outside again, and then back inside for a few more pictures. It was a million degrees (okay..maybe not a million but close!) the day we met and none of us wanted to be outside in the late-morning Georgia heat! However, this little guy was a trooper!

Mom and I knew it would be hard to get a picture of the two boys together since the older one likes to go, go, go! So, I am beyond thrilled to be able to show Mom this:

Rarely does one get lucky twice in such a short period of time but here is one other image that was total luck! Dare you not to smile!!!!

Finally, I close with a portrait of Dad and son. This dad was already experienced with babies and he was comfortable and patient as we got baby C. into position.

Beautiful family and such a huge honor to be there to capture their newest little miracle!

one week!

The year has flown by! Three sessions later… this family feels like a part of my family. I seriously adore this family and it is such an honor each time I get to photograph the three of them!

On this day, believe it or not, Mr. P. was not in the most stellar of all moods. He was a little on the cranky side. I know Dad wanted to throw in the towel several times since P. was so fussy. However, all my baby experience tells me that babies are moody and just as fast as they will cry, they will laugh! The image below was one of the last ones and also one of my favorites.

Mom is beautiful and so sweet and loving. I wanted to capture the special relationship she has with her little fella!

One year is just an age of discovery. Babies are no longer willing to “sit and smile” as they did at 6 months. They want to be on the move and showing their independence. As your photographer, it is important to me that I capture the true spirit of not only the child but also the age. After all, when you remember back, you want to remember not only the smiles but also the moments that forced you to be a better parent.

Having two boys myself, I know the bond between brothers is unique! These little guys were both very boyish boys and loved being outside. I find that when the weather is nice, most clients like to use the outdoors since it is not only a lovely background for photographs but also a fun place for the kids to be themselves.
h
The summer days have become painstakingly hot so I am booking outdoor session between 7:30 and 8:00 AM right now so that everyone does not pass out from the heat!

These little guys were tired by the time we were done with the session. The heat seems to zap every one’s energy…especially the adults. :)
