These kids just have it- this innate love for the life they are living. It really does not matter to them where they are or what toys they have to play with, they just love to LIVE! That philosophy is actually the meaning behind the ebs photography tag line- “live life out loud”. I strive to do this daily in my life and I find that I often fall short. It is the daily challenge for me, as a mom, to be fun, energetic, carefree and yet remain the one in charge and control of it all.

This family is an inspiration to me. They came to Atlanta last Fall, bought a beautiful house, moved into the house and then 10 days later were transferred back to Chicago. Talk about a roller coaster of a year. Mom’s heart for her girls was for them to stay and finish their school year here and then return to Chicago.

When I arrived at the house, I pulled in the driveway and was met with a small bouquet of flowers that the girls had picked for me. They ran to the car to show me and also to tell me that I was on their hopscotch game. Sure enough, my car was on top of the chalk drawn game. So, I promptly backed up and parked on the street so that they could show me how good they are at hopscotch.

After some outdoor games, the girls showed me all their beautiful jewelry! We all agreed they look just like princess’!

Next it was time for some dancing!

One of Mom’s goals for our session was to capture her girls special friendship. These are a couple I love…

Doesn’t Mr. C. look all decked out for the warm weather and the sun? Ah, looks are deceiving! Actually, on this morning it was in the 40′s and a little windy when we began our session. It did warm up a tad by the time we put on his bathing suit but it was still seriously chilly.
mn
This child is very laid back and willing to cooperate with any thing we asked of him. He thought it was great fun to get in the freezing water. Of course, I thought it was even more fun when he pulled mom in there with him too!
k
I have so many session favorites from this session! The image above and below are certainly two of the top ones!

Thanks C. and mom for a WAY fun morning of hanging out and enjoying life outdoors!

I am often asked how it is that I am able to capture so many darling expressions from the children I photograph. Well, the secret is really no secret at all. I have to be really on the ball and working fast. Like most kiddos, this little guy had about 20 minutes of total “on” time where he was  happy and cooperative. As the session progressed, he quickly faded. This is the norm with children and any activity. It starts off being exciting and fun and then it spirals quickly to melt down. All mom’s and dad’s know how this goes!

b
I always like to start my sessions with the images that are the main goal getting images from the session. For this session it was all about grand mom and little H.’s relationship.
bb
After I was sure we had plenty of those images we moved on to trying to get a picture with grand mom, H., and mom.
gg
After that mission was accomplished then we all could relax and let H. just be a boy and be himself! This is always a favorite part of a session for me. The hard work is done and now it is all fun and games for all of us. :)

This last image is a favorite of mine. I think the mother daughter relationship is so important, even more so as we all age. I really wanted for this mother and daughter to have a special image of just them to cherish forever.

When I arrived at this house and saw this in the driveway, I knew I was among really hip people!

Dad told me it was his dream car and I can understand why. It is one super cool car for one very hip family!

Meet little L. who should have been napping but was the most smiling happy baby anyway!

Big sister J. loved looking at herself in the mirror…such a girlie girl!

Some of you might think this daddy looks familiar. Well, not only is he a hip dad and husband but he is in a very cool band. Here is my plug for the awesome Zac Brown Band.
Please go check out his music and get some tickets for when he plays in Atlanta. I am sure he puts on a rockin’ show!

With baby number three due in a few months, I look forward to watching this family grow. :)

I am trying to figure out why, in Atlanta, we are still having dreadfully chilly days! I have lived here for my entire life and I really can’t remember other years like this one. At my session this past Friday, I could actually see the child’s breathe in the cold morning air. In April alone, we have had more days with rain then without. The rain is a God- send since we have been in a drought for so long. but it is a nuisance (and a bit dreary!) when it is days and days on end! My hope is for a few days of warm and sunny weather. I think we could all use it.

The morning of this session it was about 45 degrees but the sun was out. I adore a sunny morning even if it is chilly. We decided to head outdoors and mom assured me that little I. would not complain. I was pleasantly surprised as we spent the next thirty minutes walking and stopping and never once a complaint from I. She was happy as can be and not upset with the chill at all. That is my kind of gal!

It was apparent how much these parents adore there little girl!I enjoyed watching the family interact and love on one another!

Once we realized how cold I.’s hands (and our hands) were we decided the head back inside. I. had a little secret to share with her mom and I was so happy I was able to capture that moment of interaction!

It was a great morning and little I. can come hang out with my two three-year-old kids anytime. I think she would be a good influence on them!

baby its cold outside {smyrna, georgia newborn photographer}

Ahh- it has been a few weeks since I have had a little, itty-bitty baby to photograph so I was thrilled when this mommy called me last week. She left me a message saying she had a four-day-old. She sounded well-rested and happy and I knew immediately this must not be her first baby. If a first time mom does not book prior to the baby arriving then she typically either doesn’t book at all  because she is too overwhelmed or she calls sounding beyond exhausted.  Only a mom who has walked this road before calls and sounds like she could bake a pie while nursing, while fussing at her two-year-old, while talking on the phone, while…. well, you get the point. Once you have more than one child- you have no choice but to become super mom! Not to say there are not exceptions….. but typically…

Anyway, here is super mom and her beautiful baby girl!

The little smile on this little ballerina is a favorite of mine!

Something a little funky and different~ I won’t even tell you where we pulled the fabric from but those of you who are nursing presently probably already know. I love the big flowers and the loudness of the fabric in contrast with the sweet, sleepy, soft baby!

It took quite a bit of coaxing (and milk from mom) but she did finally sleep for us. All newborn photographers know the thrill it is when they finally sleep and you can begin posing the baby as you wish!
