Guess who is one?

Sweet, sweet little miss e. A year has flown by for me and I know it has for this mommy too!

I adore this family and was thrilled when they requested a family portrait for a special purpose. It turns out that sometime over the next few years they will be adding another little one to their family via adoption. All of my readers know that adopting and adopted children are very dear to my heart. So, I rejoiced in knowing that another little one will have a forever family in this great home! This image is needed for their adoption paperwork.

Now, I have to admit that there is a miracle in the midst of these images below. I have no clue how the darling image of the two siblings appeared on my camera card. I kid you not that neither of these children were remotely interested in sitting together. Trust me when I tell you we (as in mom, dad, and me!) tried our hardest! I took four pictures of the two children and low and behold… this was one of them. I have to thank a higher power for this image because I do not really remember that there was a second they sat still together!

I love little girls! Thanks G. family for letting me spend the morning playing with you guys!

Five month old baby Z. was the happiest little fella I have photographed in a while. Not a pout or frown during the majority of the session. It was chilly the morning we met and I was concerned that he might not be happy with the cold weather. However, he has a calm, sweet personality and he rolled with whatever we were doing.

I have seen quite a bit of orange in stores lately and I really like it. I got this cute blanket at Ikea the other day and I am really loving the bright color for this Spring!

I love how adoring this mommy is of her little guy! I thought this image captured their relationship so well!

When mom went to change baby Z.’s clothes she laid him on this little rug in the stark white kitchen. I took one look and loved the contrast of the black rug, the creamy baby skin and the beautiful white kitchen.

This final series of images are favorites of mine from the session. Baby Z. was so happy and his mommy just snuggled right in with him so naturally.

Such a fun morning with the B. family. I am so happy it is getting warmer and the calendar is getting so full! This time of year is so perfect for an outdoor session. Hope all of you are enjoying this weather as much as I am!

These girls are just my kind of girls! They were both fun-loving, happy, enthusiastic, silly and sweet! Both of these girls are adopted from China and there are only months separating them in age. They’re in the same grade at school and for most of the year… they are the same age.

I had fun asking both the girls and mom how it is to be so close in age to your sibling. In my house, Shipley and Eliza are just two months apart. They too will be in the same grade throughout their school years. I can’t wait to see what the dynamics will be with two children in the same grade who are so close in age but who are not biological twins. The psychology of it all intrigues me.

Clearly these girls adore one another and get along very well. Mom said that they hardly ever fight and that they are each others best friends. I pray it will be the same for my two as they get a little older. :)

These hats came from a recent family trip to Opryland USA! I thought both girls had the sass and spirit to pull them off!

Love this of both girls together!

Finally, I really really wanted to be sure we got a few with mom and the girls. Life goes so quickly and I think it is very important for us, as moms, to have pictures of our children with us.

Thanks girls for such a fun afternoon together!!!!

Photographing newborns is like therapy for me. The sessions are usually long and physically exhausting but I always leave feeling energized and peaceful. I love the down time during the newborn sessions since it gives me a chance to catch up with mom and have some much needed “adult conversation.” Don’t we all, as moms, long for a little more of that?

This sweet family lives right around the corner from me. I was so happy to capture big sister H. when she was only a few months old. Now, two years later, I am so thrilled to be able to help welcome sweet little G. home.

Big sister H., in a very typical fashion, wanted nothing to do with her new little brother. In fact, when we placed him in her arms she cried. Plan two was to place him beside her so that hopefully without him touching her… she would be calm and happy. It worked… she was serious and sweet but not crying! I actually really love the result!

This is one of my favorites from the session of little G. alone. I love how little his head is in relation to his Daddy’s hand.

Ahh- beautiful, beautiful little girl. We probably all remember how perfect she was in her newborn portraits! Now little missy has just turned one and she is charming! She is a little bit shy with a cute little smirk that lets you know that she wants to smile but is holding out on you. She was well rested and happy the morning I visited and her mom and I had so much fun with her!
I am just saying… how cute is she in this bunny hat!

These balloons were left over from her party and made the perfect prop.
balloons + child = smiles and happiness

I could not resist the christening gown. Mom had not planned to have her photographed in it but when I saw it… I knew how important it was we get some professional images taken with her wearing it. Little E. was getting to the end of her rope but she held on and we were able to get just the few images we needed with the dress.

Hope you all have enjoyed this beautiful weather we have been having. I am sad to see it will be leaving us later today. I have enjoyed all the outside time I have had with both my children and with my clients!

I know that lots of you have noticed my site has been doing really strange things over the past few days. I know it has been impossible to get on the website and the blog has not had any pictures on it. Just to let you know.. I realize this and I am sorry. Sometimes when you are growing these are the growing pains you go through. All is back to normal today and while there will still be a little “construction” dust over the next two weeks, we are doing our best to keep it all tidy even when we are working. :)
