I have lots of “work” that needs to be done around the house and with client galleries but it will just not get done today. I am taking my Sunday off, as I usually do, and enjoying our Sunday rituals. Right this minute.. everyone in this house, except for me, is sleeping. I am really blessed that all three of my children still nap each day from about 2-4 or 4:30.
We had an awesome morning at church and we loved having some friends join us there. Our preacher talked about being “un-plugged” and taking time out to recharge. I had just listened to an awesome sermon last week by John Elridge on just this same topic. When I hear something twice in a week- I tend to think God is giving me a gentle, kind reminder! After church we went to lunch at Atlanta Ribs. Have you ever eaten there? There food is always really good, the food comes out fast, and the whole family can eat for about $25. It is a favorite spot for us! Then, we all came home to nap and re-charge for a Sunday evening cookout with friends to celebrate their little guy turning one!
No post without images is exciting so here are a couple of the kids just before church. Eliza is beginning to give me a bit of a fake smile when she sees the camera. We will have to work on that!
Have a wonderful Sunday and Labor Day!

And little Miss Priss… I said, “Eliza, dance for me.” and here is what I got. Just a little personality in this girls body~~

enjoying our Sunday…
I am so slow at typing and I even (yikes… hiding from my mom) look at the keyboard still! I saw this little test posted somewhere today and I thought I would try my own. I stink! Go see if you are faster than me… I am betting you are!

This beautiful little fella began his session sound asleep. He curled up for me, went into every little pose i put him in, and he never went to the bathroom on anything! He was the perfect little newborn client. I immediately adored baby a.’s mom and grand mom (dad was traveling for work) and we all had fun studying a.’s perfect little expressions.

Mom swooned over little a. and spoke adoringly of all his little baby parts and each little baby noise he made.

Since Daddy was missing all the fun.. I went back over two days later to get some pictures of the three of them as well as of Daddy with his little guy.

About now is when a. decided to wake up and let us all know who is boss. “No more playing Mr. Nice Guy for the crazy photographer who tries to smoosh me into baskets, make me cold with no clothes on, and pose with silly hats on my head!”, he said in not so many words. Then he “let it all go (all you mom’s know what I mean)” all over Dad first, then the floor, and finally me! Luckily, mom, dad, and I all had a great sense of humor and we hystarically laughed about it as we all tried to wipe ourselves off. I am still worried about their CREAM carpet that a. left his mark on. I hope the next time I talk to them they will tell me it all came clean! EEEKKK- can you say “naked newborn hazard”? Oh well, he is still one of the best newborns ever (up until that moment).

Most of you will read the title of this post and you assume you are about to see some little kiddos ready for their first day of school. If you scroll down a bit….you will see a post like that. This post is about big, grown up kids, ready to return to school for the Fall semester. One at Georgetown, one at Harvard, and one at Westminster. Do you think they are all just a tad smart? Well they are very smart, so super silly, really respectful and a bunch of fun to hang out with.
Meet the boys:

and the beautiful only girl….

I had to giggle when I saw that all three of them brought these shirts. We talked about how this image will look really dated in a few years… “Obama who?” or “Did I really vote for Obama?” or “See how cool I was.. I voted for Obama?” Only time will tell on that front!

And finally one that I love and I think C’s mom (who happens to be a minister) will love too. When we walked by this tiny chapel on the Westminster campus, C. told me how much she loves it. It was clearly very special to her and I told her that we should try to use it for a picture. The light was already fading and I knew it might be hard to wait any longer. When I downloaded my card, I could not wait to see how this turned out…
