I adore red Keds! In our house we call them the “Jack Rogers’ shoes.” In the morning I would say, “Slaton, where are your Jack Rogers’ shoes?’ Followed by, “mom I can’t find my Jack Rogers’ shoes.” Weird name, huh? Jack Rogers’ is one of my clients but he is so much more then that. His mommy hired me years and years ago to take pictures of Jack when he was less than a year old. She and I hit is off and quickly became very close friends. Our oldest boys, Slaton and Jack, happen to be only weeks apart and they also became good buddies. for a while, they were even in school together. When Jack got his really cool red Keds I loved them. So, since Jack had them first, I called them the “Jack Rogers’ shoes” when talking about them to Slaton. The name stuck and still to this day, in our house, we call red Keds the “JACK ROGERS’ SHOES”.

So, I was thrilled to see this little guys in his “Jack Rogers’ shoes”! I like the image on the right since the shoes really stand out!

How beautiful is this family? They are equally as sweet on the inside. It was such a pleasure to work with them!

Snuggle time is tough with this age child. They always want to go, go, go!

First children are always fun to photograph since it is so easy to put all your concentration on that one child. This little fella is so lucky because he is certainly loved and adored by to his mom and dad.

Finally, the blabla hat! I had no idea they have a store in Va. Highlands… how could I not know this? Thanks for filling me in and keeping me in the cool clothes loop A. I will certainly have to check it out! Mom got little William’s hat there.

I am trying not to do anything but work really hard right now because I am determined to be home today in plenty of time to get my Spider man, Batman, and little witch ready for Halloween. However, my husband just sent me an e-mail and told me to go look at David’s blog. David and Melissa are our dear friends. At church, David leads the band (in which Jeff plays the guitar most Sundays) and Melissa leads the pre-school program. We also happen to all be in the same small group. Anyway, go check out David’s post today. Very sweet and certainly made my day. Feel free to leave David a little blog comment so he knows you guys are out there!

We all need a good cry every once in a while. Unfortunately for this typically happy little guy, it was the hour and a half I was hanging out with him!

What is a photographer to do? I kept following him around, I ignored him, I even sang to him… but nothing. However, I was sneaky and did catch this when he was snuggling with his mommy!

As you can tell- big brother was EASY. In fact in the six sessions we have had, he was the very easiest for this one! That’s how life is- when your brother will not comply, you comply even more to be the “really good kid”! He was outstanding!

Oh well- looks as if I will have to try again on the images of the two boys together. Mom has a great sense of humor but I am betting I cannot convince her to put those on her Christmas card!

Oh and if you are worried that little H. might have ben sick or had something really wrong with him… don’t worry. Mom texted me ten minutes after I left to say he was smiling and happy in the car. He then had three shots and a couple of pricks at his afternoon doctors appointment and not so much as a tear! Good thing he got all those tears out with me. :) Ahh- you just have to take life with a good sense of humor. :)

But as a neutral third party, I have to say that the crying pictures just crack me up. Look at those little clenched fists! Look at that big brother trying not to laugh in the second shot! Big brother definitely has some ammo for the future in these images. One could envision a holiday card making some reference to "naughty or nice..." Oct 29th, 2008, 4:10PM

I have to say, my lil man J did awesome! P.S. I think I will order one of those crying pictures just b/c it was what it was that morning! Nevertheless, my boys are my heaven on earth! heehee! I especially love the second one of the lil guy crying - he appears to be in exactly the same position, mouth open and hands clutched, with his clothes magically changed. I felt a grin and a twinge of anxiety come over me as I thought of the mom standing behind you trying to make faces or anything to make him smile-anything! It is definately a day to remember. need a good cry…

It was such fun to meet the G. family this past week. I had photographed big brother a few months ago so I already had the pleasure of meeting mom and little J. However, I knew it would be a real treat to get to meet new sister E. and dad this month! Look at the adorable dress on little E.

Big brother J. was on the go and not prepared to sit still for more than a half a second. I plan on this and can usually manipulate the situation. Luckily, mom, dad and I all worked it and broke out the singing. However, mom and I paled in comparison to dad’s “rap” style song he sings for E. If you know this family (and I know a bunch of you faithful blog readers do!)- you really must ask dad to sing it for you!

The two children sitting (I use that term very loosely!) together.

Finally, a favorite family image from the session.

You have to admit- beautiful typically breeds beautiful. Well, certainly that holds true in this family. Look at these great looking parents who were celebrating their thirteenth anniversary the day of our session! Whoo Hooo to them for being married for thirteen years and for slipping away for a weekend to celebrate it!

They have much to celebrate with two beautiful children. Big boy E. is such a sweet, smart kid. He is very social and can keep a conversation going for quite a while. This is a very good trait to possess as he works towards being a lawyer, doctor, politician, etc.

For now though- he is just working on being the best big brother a little sister could ever have. I think he is doing a really good job!

Most of my families I photograph have children very close in age. This family was a sweet exception. Their oldest daughter is ten years old (and such a beauty) and their youngest daughter is one! Just a little bit of a difference in age. :) I mentioned how nice I thought it must be to have your first child old enough to help with the second child. Mom said, “I do not know how I ever did it the first time around without a helper.” Big sister C. was so precious and sweet to her little sister. I loved seeing how their relationship is forming as baby F. is getting her own strong little personality!

Here is the lovely big sister!

Please do not get the wrong idea about little F. She was a delight through the whole session. However, close to the end- she was having a mini-meltdown. I had to chuckle as she is so expressive with her feelings right now.
