are very special in this household since mom tries to keep her kids on straight and narrow with being healthy. However, we bribed (I say we since I encouraged it.. not in a day to day sense but certainly in a session sense) with popsicles. However, it was really unnecessary since these girls were both so good anyway. However, the popsicles made for darling images since the girls both sat still and enjoyed the moment!

This mom is not only a very busy working mom but she is a great mommy to her girls. I love the connection that she shares with the girls and it is quickly obvious how much they adore her!

The family had just returned from a vacation to visit “grand mom” and look what grand mom gave each girl.

I had never seen a tutu this small and I fell in love with it! When I told mom that I would have to get one for upcoming newborn and 6 month girls- she gave it to me. Can you say thrilled? I cannot wait to use this little prop on some unsuspecting little one very soon. Thank you a million time over Lindsay!!!

And finally the beautiful little L. with a precious little look on her face! Adore..adore..adored working with these girls and their parents!

Treats…

I will be accepting new clients for non-Christmas related sessions in November and then again in January of 2009. I am still holding just a few spots for newborns and established clients. If you fall into either of those categories, please e-mail me soon so I can get you scheduled. I have already had five clients order Christmas cards and I can tell the season is off to a swift start.
On another note, I have fallen behind in proofing.. which is so unlike me. I was blessed to add a very last minute newborn to my schedule today but it made my work/computer time non-existent. So, I realize there are five of you out there waiting for galleries and I promise to have them to you soon.

said the mom… and from that moment on.. .i adored this mommy!

It is always refreshing to me to have a session with a family who “gets” what it means to be passionate about life and to enjoy your children in the moment.

Of course we all have times where we are tired and not up to all the craziness of kids… but there is also a time to put aside how you feel and to enjoy the craziness! There is a time to eat treats…..
and then enjoy the results of the sugar high!

I had a wonderful morning being a part of this family! I can’t wait to see you all again!

“let’s make music”

It seems it has been a little while since I have photographed a newborn..two weeks maybe… It is so strange how it happens in waves. i will photograph three newborns in a week and then none for a month. I always adore photographing newborns and I really consider it my speciality. However, sometimes the newborn well runs dry and I have to patiently wait for another baby to come along.
Luckily, little T. was born last week and that meant I was back in business with an itty bitty baby to photograph.

Her big sister was really happy I arrived to photograph T. She helped me with my equipment and she hung out with me while I was setting up and scouting locations in the house. She was spunky and fun and I really enjoyed having her around.

She was not quite old enough to hold her little sister yet but she was happy to play with her and tell her some secrets!

Little T. soon grew tired of her big sister and both girls needed a break from one another. :) Isn’t that just real life?!!!?

Big sister went with grand-mommy for some book reading time and some snuggles before nap. Then, mom was free to love on little miss T. for a while!

Finally, I leave you with a picture of her precious feet. Seriously, is there another time in your life that your feet are ever this adorable? I love newborn teeny tiny feet!

seven days….

It has been such a bittersweet week here in the Smith house. “The babies” (yes, I realize that they are not really babies anymore… but what else can we call them?) went back to school on Monday. I LOVE their new school. The staff is so warm and welcoming and the administration is wonderful with their level of communication.
Slaton will have his first FULL day of school tomorrow. However, today he attended for several hours and he had a blast. They went on a hunt for the gingerbread boy who had escaped. The children are led throughout the school, following the notes the gingerbread boy left behind, to find him. The reward for the children is that they find him  and then they all get to eat gingerbread! The goal for the teacher is for the children to begin to learn their way around the school and to meet the various staff. I had secretly hoped the teachers might do this today and so last night I had read the children The Gingerbread Baby by Jan Brett. Jan Brett has long been a favorite children’s author of mine and I certainly hope my children will someday feel the same way.

So, here we are on Thursday night and it feels that the week is going on forever. I have driven to school and back from school seven times this week and I am feeling much more like a stay-at-home mom than a working mom. I have to say that I kinda like it. It is a good thing I have a few more sessions booked for this week to remind me how much I love that too!!!!

Hugs and prayers to all of you who are sending your “babies” off to school over the next couple of weeks!

PS I did ask Slaton what else he thought we cold start calling “the babies” since they are growing up. He said we could call them “dog and cat.” Somehow I do not think that is much better! Let me know if any of you have any suggestions. It is hard raising twins who are not at all twins. These are the thoughts that stump me.

I really loved this session… Below is the wallet referral card the family will get when they pick up their order. Each family receives 7 of these to pass out to friends and family. When someone books a session with me and uses this family as their referral, the family receives a gift print from their next session. It is a cool program I started about 5 months ago. My clients love their free prints and I love working with my client’s friends!
