Little E. just had her first birthday…. wanna know how you can tell? If you look closely there is a little bit of red icing stain on her beautiful birthday dress. She had one of those cute, bright red, heavy icing, Elmo cakes from Publix. I can imagine what fun E. had digging into it and getting icing all over the place. She has so much personality I am sure it was fun to watch her with her cake! It was fun for me today to watch her with her sweet mommy and daddy!

brothers….. :: Old Blog

need I say more. They were sweet, darling, rough and tumble but most of all… just really lovable. Big brother was so excited to find a caterpillar early on in the session. The caterpillar hung out with us, traveled with us, and even was in some pictures for the rest of the session. At one point I thought the caterpillar might have been loved to death but then mom said, "look at that" and sure enough, that caterpillar was on the move again. This family was so much fun, so warm in personality, and they just made the afternoon fun for me!

I thought this was a brilliantly written article and I wanted to share it with all of you. Feel free to visit this blog to read more about it.

The photographic art you choose to place on your wall is ultimately
the result of the vision of the photographer. This vision, coupled with
what you wear to your session, the environment, the lighting, even the
mood the subjects are in at the time of photographing creates the work
that you will want to proudly display on your walls forevermore.

 Chicago Children's Photographer Marmalade Photography

Your first step in the process is more about determining who you
are, who your family is and then seeking a photographer that reflects
your style. For instance let’s say your family is extremely outdoorsy
and loves playing on the beach. You start determining what style you
like, browse through photography website portfolios and determine if
any of the styles exhibited there would be a good fit with your life
and family style. You have already determined that you should probably
seek out a beach type photographer (that is if you live near a beach)
and then begin narrowing the field down a bit.

Finally after a bit of internet research, you have narrowed it down
to two photographers who do what seems like solid work, the sort of
outdoor beach look you desire.  It is now time to ask yourself: Do you
like photographer A’s style over photographer B’s style? Is it because
the people in the images of A’s style are having a great time and it
seems very caught up in the moment vs. B photographer more posed,
looking in the camera images? If this is a case, you probably like lifestylephotography or perhaps even take it a step further and define your desired style as a photojournalistic
photography style. The photographer you probably should choose is
photographer A because their style is very similar to the style you
desire.

What custom photography ultimately is all about is choice and
experience (as in THE experience). Custom photography is about finding
someone who will photograph your family, give you devoted 1:1 attention
without worry of the next ‘in line’ or the feeling of a crowded
portrait studio. A custom photographer will typically show you a fairly
extensive gallery culled to only show the good images that meet the
photographers’ creative sensibilities. Often the images are fully
edited images-color corrected with blemishes and undereye circles
removed. Custom photographers are also known as boutique studios,
offering a range of products and unparalleled service. Think Lexus vs.
Hyundai, think Nordstrom vs. WalMart.

Custom photography should have you, the client and your experience in mind.

oh baby :: Old Blog

What a lucky, blessed baby you are! Little Baby S. was born into such a very special family. She is surrounded with so much love. She has a precious older sister and brother who are wild about her. They both love to make her smile and they both wanted to be the one to hold her in the pictures. We gave both children the opportunity and they both did such a good job of gently holding their sister. Lucky little girl…

oh baby

before I hit the road for the long weekend. I have been informed that everyone else at home is packed and waiting on me… so I better hurry before my name is mud. However, I had to share this beautiful baby with you! This is the first little fella to enter this couple's life and they are obviously very smitten with him. I have to agree that he is a really beautiful baby. I think he might be a baseball pitcher when he grows up because he has great aim!. He is the first little fella to hit my camera dead on. You know when you need to go…… So, we all got a good laugh and the camera was just fine. Nothing a little dry towel can't clean up. As I always say, "there is nothing glamorous about my job." I am just not a glamorous girl and so you know a little wetness does not faze me. I love my job! :)

just one last post

I know I have really fallen behind on the blog this week. I am just running a bit behind which means by the time the studio re-opens on Tuesday- I will have lots to share with you.
This is my fourth session with this beautiful little girls. She is one of my favorite children to photograph because she is so beautiful, she behaves so well, and she has a lot of expression. The camera (and I) love her! You will certainly remember her most recently with her two brand new twin brothers. Well, that session was mostly about the boys and so this one was all about little Miss N.
I hope all of you have a very relaxing, wonderful weekend. Please be safe and see you back here on Tuesday!
