Go Green :: Old Blog

I’ve been trying to find ways to be more environmentally friendly
lately. Glamour’s April issue had lots of ways to Go Green, so I
figured I’d share some here…sometimes it seems like these suggestions
are inconvenient, but really, it just requires creating new habits!
What are you doing to go green?
1. Recycle – check to see if your trash service also picks up recycling.  If not, find a drop off location near you.
2. Sign up for online banking – skip the paper statements.
3. Shop online – save gas!
3. Adjust your thermostat – 68 degrees in the winter and 76 degrees in the summer.
4. Find new uses for old “stuff” before buying more.
5. Switch to natural cleaners.
6. Make sorting your recycling easy – buy containers that coordinate with your decor.
7. Use rechargeable batteries.
8. Go to catelogchoice.org and unsubscribe to printed catalog mailings.
9. Fill up a reusable water bottle.
10. Unplug electronics when not in use.
11. Fix broken things rather than throwing them out and buying new.
12. Wash clothes in cold water.
13. Use canvas shopping bags rather than paper or plastic – plastic won’t break down and paper uses more resources.
14. Use less paper.
15. Take shorter showers and keep the water off while you are brushing your teeth.
16. Walk, run or bike.
17. Earth Day is April 22nd – find events in your community to support.

Cousin time :: Old Blog

Meet little A. and her cousin! She is a baby planner and when her mom called me to schedule her 6 months, she mentioned that her sister would be there with her son. They were too cute together! I know it will be fun for A. and H. to grow up together and have these images when they are older.

Cousin time

I like this family so very much. I first met little P. when he was just a few weeks old. He was alert and cuddly and so very precious. I missed seeing him at six months and was so thrilled to be able to see him again at one year of age. He still looked so similar to me. However, he had become even more tender and much more boyish. Not only is he so adorable looking but he loved on me, hugged me and won me over. I am so happy not to have a baby that age anymore but I do miss some parts of it. One part is the hugs and cuddles. Luckily, I am able to enjoy little ones like P. for moments and then I am able to give them back to their happy mommas!

This week has really put me behind on lots of things. I made the HUGE decision on Sunday to pull all my studio pc’s and make the change to mac! Exciting and very overwhelming…. You can imagine what this week has been like, trying to transfer information, files, e-mails, programs, etc. Honestly, right now I am just tired of it all. However, I know in the end I will be so thrilled to be a mac girl!

In all this craziness, I have had a mess with my e-mail accounts. We could not get the mac to send e-mail messages with charter (our cable company) as our e-mail. So, my sweet husband was on the phone with someone a million miles away (anyone else love the customer support you get with most companies today?) for 2 hours today. The end result was to pull the whole mac and take it back to the store tonight for an appointment with a tech. So, some e-mails were received there and now they are gone. I actually did not even get to see them. If you are waiting on me to get back to you….. please e-mail me again. There are sure to be some items that slip through the cracks with all this change.

Now for an update on baby G. I have had so many e-mails and calls from all of you who are praying for this family and the baby. I was with them on Monday and I spent a bit of time photographing the three boys together. I am impressed by the strength and courage the mom and dad share. Baby G. is very weak and thin. He has lost some weight since birth and his skin is thin and his pallor is pale. He does not resemble the baby I first met. However, he is still beautiful and amazing  and the family is so tender and loving with him. Here are the three boys…

a little behind and a baby g. update

I was so excited when this grandmother called me to book a session for her grand-daughter. She said she was looking for a more traditional session that would take place in the garden at her home. How fun! Little C. was so sweet and darling, and the rest of the family was beautiful. 27_rawls
