Look who is growing into a little man…

Time is flying by… and Collin is growing up before my eyes. It seems hard to believe what a baby he was when I first met him. Collin happens to be the same age as my youngest two “babies”, Shipley and Eliza. So, Collin’s mom and I always have lots of conversation regarding all the milestones this age is bringing. Next year Collin will be in first grade, reading, adding, spelling and learning more then we did when we were that age! Six is such a wonderful time! It is really the end of the “babyhood” era. No more naps at school and no more being the youngest in the school. This momma has done such a great job of documenting both of her children’s lives. Each year she treats both of them to their own session to document the turning of an additional year. How wonderful that one day Collin will be able to look back at the image above and below and truly see his growth over the years.

Over the past four years, the biggest change for Collin was the addition of a little sister. Hailey brought love, laughter and sass into their home and sweet Collin embraced it all. Collin has this amazing heart and he is such a great big brother to Hailey!

Thank you Collin (and mom/dad) for four years of wonderful sessions. I ALWAYS look forward to our sessions and I enjoy our time together so much!

Collin is six!

I am always so interested in how much or how little siblings look like their parents. Often I will see a child and immediately know which parents that child belongs to. In some families, genetics are so strong that you can see a batch of siblings who all look so much alike. That is certainly the case with this favorite family:

I believe it might be hard to look at these children’s images from the same time in their lives and know which one is which.

Claiborne has a habit of sticking her tongue out of her mouth. This habit is super adorable and might be the one clue to knowing which baby is which in certain pictures in the years to come!

I fell in love with this sweet family the first time I met them. This momma has such a kind, sweet heart and she is always so gracious and lovely. She is also pretty hilarious and I always leave our conversations giggling over some of the things we talk about! The Daddy is so super with his girls. He is patient and kind with them and, in turn, these girls ADORE their Daddy! Families like this give me such hope as I think about my kids future and the children my kids will be growing up with.

I leave you with this last image of Adeline. Her hair is AMAZING (all girls out there are so jealous!) and she is such a bunch of fun to be around! I can’t wait to see this family again in just a few months for Claiborne’s one-year-session!

strong genes

three years later

Where is time going? It was only yesterday we were taking three-month-old pictures of sweet Lydie and now she is completely past the baby stage and into being a big girl. Someone said the other day, “the weeks are long but the years are short.” Can I just get an Amen to that?! I certainly notice that in my own family but I especially notice it with clients families. It has been a year since I have seen this family. Surely some of you remember this:

Hudson was none to pleased to be out of his momma’s arms for even a minute. We would have mom run and hide to see if Dad, Lydie and I could calm him down but it was to no avail. This little fella is just like my little guys… he adores his momma!  Luckily, this year he had reached a new stage where was  happy to be a little more independent (while still more than pleased to be with mom!). So, we had lots of happy times together for this session!

Lydie is such a great big sister and she is such a joy to be around! She is the kind of kid I just want to hang out with for an afternoon. In the image below you can see how she is shepherding and guiding little Hudson and he begins his journey through life.

Hudson is precious, adventurous, and full of all things boyish. He is certainly adorable and such a delight to be around!

Mom reminded me that this is session number eight we have shared together! I have to admit, I am so humbled and happy to have been able to connect with this family and all of us “do life together” over the past years. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. It has certainly been a blessing in my life!

Ah- my little baby planners… I think, for me, one of my favorite thing about my little baby planners is that I get to spend a whole year getting to know a child and their family. I am so excited each time I get to see how much that baby is growing! Take precious little Zoe for example…

It is amazing to me how much she looks the same and yet how much she has grown. At our session this time, Zoe was on the move. She is officially a walking baby now!

She has some precious little sprigs of hair on her head and she is looking very girly these days!

Her personality is really coming alive and I can tell she is a very thoughtful and curious child. She is flourishing in all the love and encouragement her parents are pouring into her.

It has been a wonderful year and I truly look forward to watching Zoe grow in the years to come!

session share: Zoe is one!

It was time again for me to photograph this sweet, blessed, family as they welcomed another precious little boy in to the world. These parents are definitely boy-makers, this is their 3rd little guy in 3 years!

Mommy is as laid-back as can be and knows how much she needs to cherish this time before she blinks and he’s all grown up.

Daddy is proud of his newest little man as well. Boys definitely rule in this house but that just means TONS of lovin’ for Mama.

Here’s the rest of the bunch- the older two boys are as cute as they can be. Last time I worked with this family I was doing the middle child’s newborn session! That wasn’t so long ago, my how time flies.

I leave you with one last sweet image of the little one. He is such a mellow baby, definitely a great quality in a 3rd child. Congrats to this much deserving family!

session share: boy, oh boy!

It seems like lately many of my sweet babies are not sitting until eight or nine months. Why you ask… Well, the one thing all these babies have in common is-

baby on pink ruga big sister! A big sister to watch over them, bring them what they need, spoil them rotten and fulfill all their teeny tiny desires. These smart babies think, “Why sit? It’s to much work when I already have all that I need.”

Big sister to a baby

Big sister Ellery has learned an important lesson in her short five years of life… smile and be happy when Miss Elizabeth comes to play. Ellery was a wee newborn when our relationship began. Together we have ridden the roller coaster of photography, me behind the camera and she in front. Some of our sessions were a little bit of a challenge. However, with this session, I think we have hit a major turning point in our lifelong relationship! Ellery was joyful, talkative and hilarious at moments. It was the most fun session we have shared yet! However, as any of us with multiple children know, one child tends to shine bright when the other struggles. Poor Lindley started off with a little bit of a struggle. She was hungry and, we guess, tired. Bummer.

However, a little applesauce later and we were back to happy!

I adore both these girls and I can’t wait to watch their little relationship continue to grow!
